(Leonine)

Englisch Richard Linklater is quite an unexplored director for me, his work has always passed me by, so I didn't have high expectations and I wasn't too impressed either. The action was non-existent, the humour minimal to nonexistent and the whole thing hinged on the likable duo of Glen Powell and the beautiful Adria Arjona, but I didn't find the plot engaging, imaginative or very interesting either. Too simple for me without any interesting plot twists. Just average. I'll forget it tomorrow. 5/10. ()

Englisch The genre classification here raises expectations of a slightly different experience, but the resulting film is neither much action nor much comedy, so beware. That said, I was pleasantly surprised. An original idea, a nicely thought out script, hugely charismatic characters (Glen Powell has been on a really nice run). A very accessible film for the audience, and yet you can feel Richard Linklater's indie roots in every frame. PS: Coincidentally, I saw Hit Man on the same day as the Czech film Mr. and Mrs. Stodola, so it was an unplanned, dramaturgically very interesting double bill :D ()

Englisch I was drawn to this film because of director Richard Linklater. The premise seemed promising, too. I guess the problem lies with the actors — they seem completely disengaged, making it hard to care about what happens in the movie. For a comedy, this is especially challenging because it’s supposed to be entertaining, and it just isn’t. In the end, the concept is good, but everything else falls flat. ()

Englisch A clever, well thought out script with a message about the fear of changes in life. Great pacing, top-notch acting – the dialogue! – Glen Powell disappears into the role. The story builds beautifully and there is no action at all. A lovely romantic film, with which Richard Linklater fulfills the dream of a lot of overweight, bespectacled students of getting their chance to bed that Adria Arjona. And it will only cost them the loss of their own personality. ()

Englisch As an undemanding look at the beautiful Adria Arjona and the likeable Glen Powell, this film is sufficient, but otherwise it's certainly nothing that deserves more hype. In fact, it is not a comedy by any stretch of the imagination and for how funny an idea it offers, I didn't laugh once; overall the film keeps its humour pretty low key and any funny sequences that could have potentially come out of the plot are completely absent. So in the end it's purely an ordinary story where a normal guy accidentally gets caught up in pretending to be a hit man and somehow falls in love with his "client". There is no action or humour, but luckily it is saved by a sufficiently fine lead duo, the feel-good aura of the whole film and the final "fight" in the apartment, which was at least a bit worth it. Watchable without any harm, but judging by the reviews I was expecting a much bigger, more memorable and entertaining thing. ()
