Die junge Sarah Tobias wurde in einem Lokal von drei Männern unter Anfeuerung der Gäste brutal vergewaltigt. Als die Täter verhaftet werden und es zu einem Prozess kommt, lässt sich Staatsanwältin Kathryn Murphy jedoch auf einen Handel mit der Gegenpartei ein: Diese behauptet, Sarah habe den Vorfall provoziert.
