It's the 1970s and the salsa revolution is in full swing. Hector Lavoe (Anthony), is the singer, El Cantante whose voice can move millions and whose passion moves one woman, his wife Puchi (Lopez). True-life biographical story about a legendary music figure in Puerto Rico. There's not much to criticize about the actors, although Jennifer Lopez didn't impress me twice. For me, the unknown Marc Anthony showed that he can dig deep and is actually the main asset of this film. Salsa didn't really resonate with me, the story was, in my opinion, terribly cliché and lacking in emotions. When I compare it to another musical biopic like Walk The Line, I simply have to rate this film as average.
