Der Film "Oktober" entstand zu Ehren des 10. Jahrestages der Oktoberrevolution im Auftrag der Kommission für die Jubiläumsfeierlichkeiten des Präsidiums des Zentralexekutivkommitees der UdSSR. In Deutschland wurde "Oktober" unter dem Titel "Zehn Tage, die die Welt erschütterten" bekannt und zeichnet die revolutionären Ereignisse des Jahres 1917 in Russland, vom Sturz der Zarenherrschaft bis zum Sturm auf das Winterpalais, nach. Eisensteins dramatische Bilder vom Sturm auf das Winterpalais sind, ähnlich, wie die legendären Szenen auf der Hafentreppe in Odessa "Potemkin", tief ins kollektive Gedächtnis eingegangen. The sound/music component is the first thing that grabs you. In combination with the visuals, this cacophonous symphony is absolutely incredible and adds urgency to this film, which seeks to show the power of the group as well as the power of the individual. There is a contrast here that is in line with Marxist-Leninist philosophy, and it is presented incredibly. The industrial music of the first half of the 20th century is truly captivating and chilling in this regard. I haven't seen such harmony between music and film in a long time, not to mention the great montages that Eisenstein incorporated into his film.
