Der ehemalige Profi-Rennfahrer Peter (Thomas Jane) arbeitet mittlerweile als Fahrschullehrer, um seine Rechnungen zu zahlen. Als sein Schüler, der Kriminelle Simon (John Cusack), während einer Fahrstunde eine Bank ausraubt, wird Peter ungewollt zum Fluchtwagenfahrer und Komplizen. Das ungleiche Team muss nun gemeinsam vor der Polizei, dem F.B.I. und einer Horde Gangster fliehen, die ebenfalls hinter der 9 Millionen-Dollar-Beute her sind. Es beginnt eine rasante Verfolgungsjagd entlang der australischen „Gold Coast". Nach einem anfänglichem Schlagabtausch zwischen den beiden Männern werden sie zu einem schlagkräftigen Team, denn Peter findet langsam Gefallen an den Adrenalin-Kicks und den grandiosen Autos, die Simon für die Flucht organisiert hat ... Thomas Jane, with a Jim Morrison hairstyle, clumsily fumbles around, and pseudo-tough guy Cusack seems most concerned about whether the color will start fading from his hair. A buddy movie should be about two entirely different characters entertaining the audience with their forced interaction, not about having both of them being equally irritating. Exploitation filmmaker Brian Trenchard-Smith sang his swan song for the last time, and the result is undernourished action, minimal conversational gems, and overall impact equivalent to Agent Brown's spoken performance. I’m convinced that if they had done it all in that Hyundai Getz instead of the Mustang, the result would have been the same.

I came in with no expectations, but in the end, I had a great time because this is simply a pleasant, relaxed film with good characters and great actors to root for. Thomas Jane shows that in collaboration with Cusack, he delivers a performance that is simply good. As I say, it’s nothing great, but if you want a decent action B-movie that's sometimes funny, give this a try.
