In der dritten Staffel ist der Kampf um Recht und Kontrolle noch tödlicher als bisher. Weil die Flüchtigen von Indian Hill auf freiem Fuß sind, übernimmt Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) persönlich die Sache und wird zum Kopfgeldjäger. Aber kann er das wahnsinnige Genie Hugo Strange (BD Wong) und dessen abartige Helfershelferin Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett Smith) überhaupt aufspüren? Bullock (Donal Logue) und Barnes (Michael Chiklis) versuchen das Schlimmste zu verhindern, während die Nachwuchs-Superschurken Oswald Cobblepot/Pinguin (Robin Lord Taylor), Edward Nygma/Riddler (Cory Michael Smith), die zukünftige Poison Ivy (Clare Foley) und Jervis Tetch alias Mad Hatter (Benedict Samuel) immer frecher werden. Unterdessen stößt der junge Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) auf weitere Geheimnisse bei dem Mord an seinen Eltern, als er die berüchtigte Unterweltorganisation Rat der Eulen entdeckt. (Warner Bros. DE)

The characters I liked the most this season were Penguin, Riddler, Ivy Pepper, and surprisingly Barbara who had been getting on my nerves for two seasons. The romantic/irritating duo of Jim Gordon/Leslie Thompkins, on the other hand, truly managed to bum me out. I liked all those sketchy characters that have emerged in Gotham, and I liked the gradual transformation of the existing characters into future guardians of the city. What disappointed me was the absolutely lackluster Court of Owls and the constant efforts to build up suspense by putting in danger the characters who couldn’t possibly come to any substantial harm.
