The film features absolutely fantastic shootouts, but overall, it's the shots that make the film a masterpiece mainly from a craftsmanship perspective that impresses. The protagonist is similarly demonic and stubborn as Al Pacino's characters. Yes, this is indeed the source material for the legendary De Palma film, and it must be said that due to the Jazz Age, it has its own charm and urgency. The contrast between gunfights and the glamorous club life works, just as the scarred face contrasts with the beautiful woman. By the way, it's quite pleasant to see Boris Karloff in his normal appearance, which is also easily memorable.
