In einer kleinen Provinzstadt in Norwegen kommt im Winter 1912 ein Mädchen zur Welt, dessen ganzer Körper von feinen blonden Härchen bedeckt ist. Für die damalige Wissenschaft ein kurioser, ein interessanter Fall. Evas Mutter stirbt bei der Geburt und ihr Vater, der Stationsmeister Arctander, will zunächst von dem „Löwenmädchen" nichts wissen. Doch die kleine Eva wächst heran. Abgeschottet und versteckt vor der Neugier der Außenwelt, erschafft sie sich ihre eigene Welt, bis sie eines Tages den Mut findet, der Enge ihres Lebens zu entfliehen. (NFP)

The Norwegians have a knack for crafting commercially appealing stories with a Hollywood touch, and The Lion Woman is a perfect example. The film's setting in early 20th-century Norway is beautifully done, and the story itself is engaging enough to captivate just about anyone. It’s a tale that evokes a wide range of emotions — one minute you’re tearing up, and the next, you’re feeling inspired. While it ultimately unfolds as a classic story of a strong woman, a theme that’s popular these days, you won’t mind because it has all the elements that make for a great evening watch.
