Aufstellen, Troopers! Mähen wir die Bugs um! Oorah! (Sony Pictures Home Entertainment)

Englisch I was quite curious to see how the animated trip into the world of Starship Troopers would turn out, because it is not the first of these. The concept is perhaps unnecessarily too fun and relaxed, which bothered me quite a bit, but you have to admit that the visual aspect of the film was good. I really did enjoy watching it. However, the film didn't impress in terms of plot, hence the average rating that I gave it. ()

Englisch Aramaki’s previous venture in the world of bugs was more successful, but it was still nice to see a film featuring familiar characters from the iconic 1997 series. I would have appreciated some explanation of how the war with the bugs progressed compared to the earlier films, as the new addition to the saga throws the viewer straight into action and just expects you to catch up. Rico in the lead role felt quite different from his original look, but the same can be said for the other characters as well. The action and animation were once again top-notch, and the battles were fun to watch. It’s clear the film was made under steady direction, with no hiccups on that front. The story, however, was quite ordinary—no captivating plot, just scenes strung together with appealing visuals and a hefty serving of juicy action. If the weak dialogue and story were fine-tuned, we’d have a contender for the action film of the year in the anime category. Still, it’s entertaining enough, and I give it 61%. ()
