Finnegan, the world’s greatest demon-hunting Nekromancer turned bad, is the first to discover evil spirits inside the internet, taking the mythical battle between good and evil into the digital realm. Nekrotronic is a mind-bending, genre-mashing, sci-fi action-packed comedy - funny, scary, thrilling and high octane, it is a cinematic roller-coaster which traverses the full spectrum of human (and inhuman) emotion.

Mit Roache-Turner werden wir uns nie einig. Was ihm witzig und cool erscheint, halte ich nicht für witzig und erachte es als kindisch dumm. Die technische Seite ist super. Könnte man aber, wie auch immer (nur nicht so), aus diesem Stoff einen unterhaltsamen und wenigstens ein bisschen hochwertigen Film machen? Das würde auch Edgar Wright nicht schaffen, obwohl er Turners billigen Mischmasch von allen möglichen Genre-Inspirationen meiden würde. [Sitges FF]

Der Vorschlag über Dämonenjäger, die bereits über das Internet operieren, um mit der Zeit zu gehen und über die Handys der Menschen anzugreifen, klingt an sich nicht schlecht. Allerdings dürfte er nicht die Form einer überladenen B-Movie-Hundsfott-Version (obwohl offensichtlich mit anständigem Budget und relativ hochwertigen Tricks) annehmen, die von allem Möglichen inspiriert ist, von Ghostbusters bis Pokemon Go und in einer regellosen Welt spielt, in der praktisch alles passieren kann, aber selten ist es tatsächlich unterhaltsam, witzig oder spannend. Die Charaktere sind nervig, die Schauspieler durchschnittlich und die Dialoge hölzern. Gelegentlich erfreut zwar eine schöne Regie-Idee, aber der Gesamteindruck der insgesamt dürftigen Umsetzung hat leider keine Chance zu überwiegen.

Many praised debut of the brothers Roache-Turner didn't sit well with me at all. Wyrmwood bored me extremely and annoyed me with its disgusting low-budget CGI gore. I understand that the creators worked with a small budget, but I simply can't stand modern low-budget splatter horror films because of those repulsive CGI effects. However, this brotherly duo slightly improved their reputation with me with Nekrotronic. The film clearly cost more money, and even though the visuals are still heavily computerized, they managed to make it acceptable for me. But what is the main improvement in their second feature film is definitely a more sophisticated and significantly more interesting story. While Wyrmwood is considered a mixture of Mad Max and Dawn of the Dead, Nekrotronic can be seen as a mix of Ghostbusters and Constantine. This time, unlike Wyrmwood, it's more of a pure horror comedy with several really cool moments and successful ideas, which made me enjoy those 99 minutes quite a bit. It's not a masterpiece, but it will certainly find its fans, although I think fans of Wyrmwood will be somewhat disappointed by Nekrotronic at the very least. An entertaining nonsense film worth watching once.
