Self-satirical Ferrell plays a role where his capsule from which a seed of disillusionment falls out upon bursting. For a while, it relies on cultural differences between Europe and America and significantly restricts the space for shots of mountains and cold hotel interiors, but otherwise, this more superficial remake of Östlund’s study of marital micro-crisis doesn’t make much sense. Perhaps if Mark Wahlberg had shown up, and they had turned it into Daddy’s Home 3. After all, Will played a nearly identical role.
