When a Nazi U-boat crew, headed by the ruthless Eric Portman, is stranded in Canada during the thick of World War II, the men evade capture by hiding out in a series of rural communities, before trying to cross the border into the United States. (Verleiher-Text)

A good war film that focuses on a slightly different phase of WWII, or rather a different area. The first surprise is the presence of Laurence Olivier's character, who is definitely not the main focus, but ultimately, the film's compelling story and its execution serve as a testament to Michael Powell's brilliance as a director. I'd never heard of the film and that's a shame. Luckily, I fixed that. ()
